Bio:
Val is a very calm and patient person and doesn’t anger easily. Eloquent, witty, so she has no problem talking herself out of dangerous/complicated situations. She is usually quiet and reserved, so she prefers to observe others at social gatherings rather than take part. A responsible, capable leader, hard and committed worker and easily absorbed by work. Val will often stay up whole nights looking over reports and figuring out battle plans. She is very
cunning and calculated and prefers to observe and figure out weaknesses/strengths (if able) of enemies rather than attacking head first.  Enjoys books and learning about everything as much as possible, she is also easy to talk to and willing to give sound advice. Intelligent, open-minded, though not very trusting of others. Will observe, watch and learn about those around her until she feels she can trust them. She feels the need to know as much as possible about everybody around her, and has a bad habit of using blackmail and letting others spy for her.
Usually underestimated because of her size and quiet nature. She is utterly loyal to her those she considers her friends.

"SHIT!" Raelyn hissed under her breath as she was trying to do up the buttons of her too tight shirt. She really did it this time. She should've known. Should've known that she couldn't trust that bastard. She should've just left and gone to a proper healer. She should've never have listened to him.
After tracking a pack of werewolves for about a week, she finally tracked them down; just to have one of those stupid overgrown muts claw her in the stomach. She was just about to get eaten by one of the hairy beasties when out of nowhere a bright light came ,and then it was on the ground, smouldering. She passed out at that stage.

When she woke up, she was in a poorly furnished room which seemed to be located in an abandoned warehouse. Oh this is just great, she thought.  She was lying on a dirty, lumpy mattress and her insides felt like they were going to fall out. Then a man appeared scrawny, ugly and wearing a tattered robe. He was the one who saved her, and also a mage. She was still very weak and he said she should stay for a day or so to heal. He seemed nice enough and besides, she would probably not get very far with her wound. So foolishly, she stayed, thinking she could trust a fellow mage. She was fairly certain he put something in whatever the hell he was giving her to drink because in normal circumstances she would been out of there the moment he turned his back. Then two days later she looked out the window finding him talking to a Templar, pointing in this direction and in return receiving a small bag, grinning wickedly.
He's a bloody mage. He shouldn't be selling out his own! Raelyn thought as she was hopping around trying to get her trousers on.
Dammit! She really needs to lie off on the sugar cakes.
She judged she had about 3 minutes before the group of Templars would burst in and arrest, if not kill her the moment they see her. There were about 10 of them.
A lot more than they would send after normal mages.
"Shitshitshitshit!!" She pulled on her last boot and grabbed her already packed shoulder bag. There were a few things missing, she made a mental note to come back and find that little weasel of a mage and ask him "nicely" if he knew anything about where they were.
She heard clinking armour and heavy footsteps coming from outside. She whistled to Thor and he followed her to the window.
"CRAP".  There was no way down. She heard muttering outside the door and ran to one side of the wall. It was made out of solid wood, so she shattered it with the spell Stonefist. They were yelling now, breaking down the door, just as she grabbed her staff and started running.

She was on the roofs now, running and jumping along the individual buildings, the Templars chasing her all the while. That armour of theirs really was helping to slow them down. Though her staff was slowing her. Oversized stick, they need to make miniature versions of these things, she thought as she climbed down one building. She ran even faster now, her lungs burning, not to mention her bloody stomach.
She ran out of the town and saw the great Frostback Mountains that led to Orzammar.
If she could get there fast enough, the Templars can't touch her. She ran straight towards it, Thor following. She ran as far as she could, until she felt as though she would pass out. She wasn't anywhere near the entrance, and the Templars were gaining, with a few of their companions who had joined the hunt. Then Raelyn saw a cave entrance, a tunnel that led down into the mountains. She jogged up to it. She could hear the Templars coming closer. It most probably led straight into The Deep Roads.
… Spiders…
"Shit".
"I'm such an idiot", Raelyn said to herself. She was walking along one of the vast halls of the ancient Deep Roads, Thor trotting alongside her, his tongue wagging. She had run through the tunnel and tried to find a place to hide until the Templars passed, but that idea backfired as soon as she took too many turns. Now she's as lost as ever. Dammit…Where in the name of the maker was she? She came to a split in the road. Left or right?
She decided to go right, following the sound of voices. Civilisation at last!
Hopefully they weren't hostile…
Then she heard yelling, swords and shields clashing and….growling?
Oh yeah, they're hostile, Raelyn thought with a heavy sigh. She was tired, thirsty and hungry, and now she probably had to sweet talk them into oblivion, if they listened and didn't try to kill her. Hopefully they have food…..and whiskey.
Suddenly out of nowhere an arrow shot past her face. Thor was barking like a mad dog and ran down the tunnel they were in.
"Thor! Get back here!" She ran after him and almost tripped over the body of what looked like a dead soldier.
"What the..?" She almost had no time to react as a Hurlock ran at her growling at slashing at her with its cruel looking sword. She jumped out of its way and set it on fire. When she looked up and took in the chaos before her. There were Darkspawn and soldiers everywhere. All of the soldiers were dead, except for two who were being surrounded by the remaining Darkspawn. Both light haired and young, one was a man with a pained expression and the other a woman with another Mabari by her side, determined to protect them both. Raelyn thought about sneaking away, this wasn't her fight after all. But they were only two and never stood a chance, and besides, Thor was in there somewhere, and she was not about to abandon him.
She took a deep breath and let the energy of her magic flood through her.

It didn't take long for her clear out the Darkspawn. The man had passed out but the woman continued to fight, making sure none of the fiends got near him. Raelyn was quite impressed with the woman. She seemed slim and small but fought like a truly skilled warrior.
There was just one thing left, an ogre. It was running straight for the woman, who was on the ground, trying to reach the fallen man. Without thinking, Raelyn ran to the creature, jumped, and stabbed the blade end of her staff right through its skull. She walked over to the pair, examining them. She didn't know much about healing but she should be able to help them. Her hand s started glowing green as she kneeled down next to them.

The man was the first one to wake up. He grumbled and complained, until he remembered she was a mage, and then he was on his feet, sword pointed at her throat.
"Well then… so much for 'thank you' ", she said without looking up. She was still busy trying to heal the woman, who sustained a nasty head wound.
"Get away from her apostate!" he warned with a slurry tongue.
"Oh please, if I was going to harm either one of you, don't you think I would've done that instead of healing you?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. The man lowered his sword and sat back down with the other Mabari sitting next to him, though he still did not look convinced. He watched her like a hawk until the woman finally woke up.
"Oh my love!" the man exclaimed as he took the woman into his arms.
"You're alive", she whispered hoarsely. The Mabari was constantly licking her face.
Raelyn was sweating and breathing hard when the woman looked at her, Thor whimpering worriedly next to her.
"You…saved us?" she asked.
"Hey, no trouble", Raelyn said, clutching her stomach. She was going to be sick any minute now.
"Apostate..." the man said between clenched teeth.
The woman sat up.
"It doesn't matter Alistair, she saved us, and that's good enough for me. My name is Kirriana", she said with a warm smile, shaking Raelyn's hand.  "And this is Alistair", she said pointing to the man next to her.
"Raelyn Amell. Hero of the day, escaped circle mage and, as you've recently found out, evil apostate", she said, smirking at Alistair.
"Well, I suppose you did help us. And at least Kirriana's safe. That's all that matters", he says, holding her. She hugs him tightly.
"Well this is all fine and well, and I'm really happy to have helped out, but I think it's best if I be on my way now", Raelyn said as she stood up, holding onto Thor for support. There were more soldiers coming, no doubt they'll recognise her since she's wanted just about everywhere, and they'll drag her back to the circle.
"Wait, hold on…"
"You're Majesties!" the Captain exclaimed.
You're Majesties? Oh crap…
"We came as soon as we heard. Dear maker, I can't believe they're all gone!" he said as he stared at all the dead soldier bodies. Raelyn was trying to hide her face from the soldiers, praying they wouldn't recognise her.
Please don't see me, please don't see me, pleasepleaseplease…
Suddenly there was a huge hand on her shoulder, spinning her around so that she's staring straight at a soldier.
"Hey Captain, it's that mage, the apostate that everybody's looking for!"
Raelyn almost electrocuted him when she heard Kirriana yell out from behind "No! Don't arrest her, she saved us!"
They were busy tying Raelyns hands behind her back. They were not being gentle.
"My Queen, she is an apostate and wanted blood mage…
"Blood mage!?" Raelyn interrupted. The Captain gave her a dirty look and continued.
"We cannot let her go. The law of the Chantry dictates. She must go back to the Circle and be made Tranquil.
Tranquil? Shit, she's really done it now.
"We must --" He never finished, because Kirriana blurted out
"I hereby invoke the Right of Conscription on the mage Raelyn Amell. She will participate in the joining and will become a Grey Warden. "
Everybody's mouths were hanging open, even Raelyn. She struggled to even speak.
"Whoa, whoa  now hold on there for just a minute. A Grey Warden, are you serious? "Raelyn asked in astonishment.
"It's either that or the circle. Make a decision mage."
The harshness in her voice was surprising. The Queen isn't really giving her much choice. Hmmm…Certain death for both choices
Raelyn sighed heavily. "Ah sod it! Alright, your majesty, you win. I'll become a warden".
"No! No way! She's an apostate Kirriana, we can't trust her!" moaned Alistair.
"That's enough Alistair, I've made my decision. Guards, release her."
"As you wish, my lady." The guard muttered curses under his breath as he undid her bindings.
"Sorry gentlemen, maybe another time" Raelyn said to the soldiers with a grin.
She whistled to Thor, who was playing with his new best friend, the other Mabari. They both came running over. She picked up her things, the soldiers giving her dirty looks the whole time.
She decided she'll walk with the queen.
"Thanks for that, my lady", she said with a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
"Oh you'll be fine. I saw you fight, you'll take part in the joining and be a warden in no time."
"Hmmm. It's the joining part that I'm worried about. I mean, Darkspawn blood, really? That can only taste bad."
They both started laughing.
"I think you'll be an excellent warden", said Kirriana.
"Ha! I don't think so, my lady. Following orders is not one of my strong points", Raelyn said with a grin.
"That's just it, my dear mage. You won't be following orders…You'll be giving them"

Background info:
Came from the village Lothering and was sent to the circle at age 6. She has no contact with her family and has no desire to. She does not know wether they escaped the blight or not. After being put in the circle, she was mostly solitary, not really opening up to anyone. She does not remember most of her life before the circle. After passing her harrowing at age 18, her fellow mage Jowan asked her to help him and his lover escape the circle. Refusing at first, Jowan finally convinced her to help. After all the dangerous and tedious work of retrieving Jowans phylactery, they were all three caught by the templars. Jowen blamed Raelyn for betraying them and used blood magic to try and escape. The templars accused Raelyn for being ablood mage and her arrested. She was going to be made tranquil, but she was saved by the templar Cullen, who she knew had a little crush on her. He helped her escape by tunnels under the tower. After she got out, she traveled around Thedas for about 3 years as a mercenary type who did jobs for anybody who was willing to pay. She was mostly trained in the circle but she met an apostate along the way who taught her to become a battle mage and some other interesting abilities. Some templars caught up with so she traveled to the deep roads to lay low for a while. There she met the king and Queen of Ferelden, who made her a Grey Warden and later Warden Commander.

Some Bio:
Has a very sarcastic personality. She has a very realistic view on life and she can be ironic. kinda solitary. She covers up senstive emotions with humour and does not like revealing her true feelings .She is very clever and cunning, she has no problem wriggling her way out of complicated situations.  She has a smart mouth which usually gets her into lots of trouble. Generally likes to help others in need, though she actually likes to receive things in return (preferably money hehehe) She does have a soft spot for underdogs though.  Not at all fond of following the law and not a big fan of authority. She loves sleep, cake and good whiskey ;) (And attractive men)Although she is super lazy and hates all the paperwork that comes with being the warden commander, she is also quite adventurous. Best friends with the awesome Queen of Ferelden Kirriana Cousland. Has a HUGE fear of spiders, especially the giant ones O_O She usually gets into lots of trouble, especially with Kirriana. Her best bud is also the one who gets her out of trouble. She dispises nobles(and anybody who acts like they're better than others) and has a lot of trouble tolerating them. She is not really interested in settling down with anybody, but she does like to admire those who are attractive ;) Raelyn is a good person to talk to in a sense because she is a very good listener, though she is very socialy awkward and does not actualy know how to react in turn. She is also quite clumsy and has a bit of a gambling problem ( she owes a lot money to a lot of shady criminal-y people hehe) She is an epic battle and force mage who kicks ass with her buddies   :yakuza:

Awakenings background:
After being made comander of the Grey Wradens, Raelyn traveled to Amaranthine and met up with Mhairi, a female warrior. They traveled to Vigil's Keep and were atacked by a group of darkspawn. When they reached the inside of the keep, they found it was infested with darkspawn. They met a runaway mage named Anders along the way, who Raylen knew from her Tower days, and a dwarven warrior named Oghren, who helped them fight.Raelyn remembered Kirriana talking about a dwarf named Oghren. After defeating most of the darkspawn in the keep, they met the leader of the group, a talking darkspawn called The Withered. After defeating him, King Alistair showed up to investigate what had happened. It has been a while since Alistair and Raelyn had seen eachother, but it was nice to catch-up. After he left, her three companions were to take part in the Joining. Mhairi did not survive, but Raelyn did find her a tad annoying. Anders survived, and so did Oghren. Raelyn knew she was going to like those two.Anders liked cats and Oghren drinking, plus they were both hilarious. They were going to get along just fine. She met Seneschal Bran and other advisers. She was informed that they had a prisoner, who turned out to be Nathaniel Howe. He was, in an attempt to spare his life, made into a Grey Warden. He was too serious for Raelyn's tastes, but he was damn good archery, she'll give him that, and not too bad on the eyes either, except for that nose. They soon traveled to the Blackmarsh where they recruited a fade spirit of justice, who called himself Justice. He joined their cause in hope to restore some justice to the world. He was strange, mysterious and not very open, but he was useful. They then left for Wending Wood, where they met an elf-mage named Velana. Raelyn though she was a bitch, but she was good to have in a fight, and she agreed to participate in the joining. When entering a silver mine in the Wood, they were captured by someone called The Architect. After escaping, they traveled to Knotwood hills, where they met Sigrun, a dwarven rogue from The Legion of the Dead. After helping save her companions, Sigrun agreed to participate in the joining. She and Velana both survived. Sigrun was okay, but she and Raelyn were not best buddies or anything. After they returned to the keep, Raelyn was informed of the oncoming darkspawn attack. After reassuring the foolish nobles that everything will be fine, Raelyn gathered her companions and head out to protect Amaranthine from the darspawn. After protecting the city, they returned back to the keep to confront another massive group of darkspawn. After the devestating battle at the keep, the seneschal had unfortunately died. Raelyn had liked him, he was a simple but brave and strong man. They set out afterwards to find and destroy the deadly creature call Mother, who had been sending all the darkspawn. They traveled to her lair and after much fighting, the encountered The Architect again. Raelyn could either kill him or let him live. She was not looking forward to a future betrayel from him, so she ended him, which in turn caused Velana to turn on them. Raelyn had to kill her, whish she did not entirely regret. After hours of fighting and searching, they finally found the Mother. She turned out to be a massive brood-mother, who looked even uglier than tha usual ones. After a long time of tentacle fighting and personally stabbing the brood-mother in the heart, it was finally over.Afterwards Raelyn and the others returned to their duties as wardens at Vigils Keep.

Mercenary Life:
After escaping from the circle, Raelyn spent 3 years working as a mercenary, traveling all around Thedas with her most loyal companion and friend, Thor. This usually did not make her very popular among town and city guards. She became wanted in more than a few cities. She was quite popular with those who needed things done, though. She was usually hired to do things like travel into dangerous places to retrieve lost relics/treasures, hunt down dangerous beasties who were in some way disturbing someones peace or even protecting people. She did not charge outragous amounts. Just enough to keep going. She needed to survive, after all. she would stay in taverns when she could, but with her relationship with the law and guards hunting her night and day, she usually needed to sleep somewhere else, abandoned buildings or any place with enough room and shelter. Not to mention the otherside of the law. Crime lords also started noticing her, and when she refused to work for any of them, they started sending out assassins and bounty hunters after her.And then there were also the Templars to worry about. It was difficult living like that, avoiding both sides of the law and having no friends, but it was her life and she liked it that way. No emotional baggage, nothing and nobody to hold her back. Just her and Thor showing people that you dont need to be on a good or bad side to have a place in the world. Everything was going perfect, until the day the Templars caught up to her. The day she chose to hide in the Deep Roads. The day she saved the rulers of Ferelden. The day she met Kirriana.....

Raelyn and Kirriana's Frienship:
Kirriana and Raelyn have a very odd friendship. While they are not complete opposites, the have some huge diffirences. Kirriana is a very responsible and dedicated queen and wife, whish usually gets on Raelyn's nerves.Raelyn is more the "I'll do it later" type. Raelyn may dispise the law and anyone to do with it, but she has more respect for Kirriana than anyone else. There is very little Raelyn would not do for her. Raelyn is not one to make friends easily, but with Kirriana there was an instant bond. They both have an awesome sense of humour, for one thing. Most people do not understand their friendship, especially the fact that Kirriana is queen who hangs out with a ex-mercenary. Without Kirriana, Raelyn would have been dead or tranquil a long time ago. She's gotten Raelyn out of trouble more times than she can count, though Raelyn has done the same for her,if not getting her INTO trouble more. Kirriana could be very boring sometimes in Raelyn's eyes. Always with the "duty first" thing.Hardly anytime for fun. Raelyn blamed it on that simpleton husband of hers. She and Alistair did not really get along, apart from the fact that he was an ex-templar and she an apostate, they also had very diffirent views on life and its little tasks. And their bloody obsession with cheese, she really had problems with that part. And when she forces Raelyn to do all of that stupid paperwork, which she almost always has to stay up late to do.She did make a good drinking buddy though. Kirriana always wants to help though, and she usually does. Saving Raelyn from debts, fights and more often than not, ambarrasment. She is especially usefull when Raelyn gets drunk during the day, a bad habit of hers.Raelyn really cares for the queen, more than she would ever opely admit. Raelyn did have to admit though, her and Kirirana and all their bad-ass companions, were pretty damn Epic ;P
